We are grateful and honored that you are considering our retreat center as your personal refuge. What is Lotus Mountain Retreat? We are a non-profit wellness center established to giving our guests the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate, learn, explore, and reconnect with themselves and those who they love in the mountains of Vermont. Set up in the style of a traditional Ashram, Lotus Mountain Retreat is a place of natural beauty and has been thoughtfully designed as a place to retreat from daily life and to study and practice yoga and meditation. Our lodging arrangement is informal and unpretentious. We want our guests to genuinely feel at home, free to wander about and enjoy our facility and property, finding the special nook and cranny to melt away their stress. And once rejuvenated, you are welcome avail yourselves to the myriad hiking and exploration opportunities open to you at Bolton.
If you are looking for a relaxing mountain escape with a dash of exercise to get your blood flowing, we are the place. The oldest long distance trail in the United States, the 272-mile Long Trail, which extends from Massachusetts to Canada and was the inspiration for the Appalachian Trail, snakes its way over the summit of Bolton Mountain. Bolton is also the home to over 100 km of Nordic and backcountry trails. Needless to say, you won’t need to hike the same trail twice!
Lotus Mountain Retreat is housed in a historic lodge with the enviable earned vibe of an older building. We want our guests to be ready for the unique characteristics of our building. Though our lodging facility is amply modern, we are dedicated and committed to enhancing the building and facility while preserving this beautiful and historic place. For those with a sense of adventure and wanderlust, and who enjoy experiences off the beaten path, you’ll find us to be a truly special sanctuary unlike any place you’ve ever stayed.
Those who work here at Lotus Mountain Retreat are close-knit members of our co-operative community. We all migrated to this facility through different paths, but all of us share the desire for a common living experience and the opportunity to work together in a synergistic way to make all of our lives more complete. As full-time residents at this retreat, this is far more than our “job.” When you walk through the doors, you automatically become a member of our extended family.
Also, we are all here working and doing a variety of chores depending on the needs of the day (or even the hour!), so we may not be directly visible for you at the front desk when you arrive or if you need assistance while here. Of course, if you need us, we are always anxious, willing, and happy to help, but there may be times when you have to seek us out. Guests who enjoy their stay here are looking for a relaxing experience.
Most important for us is to have the expectations of our guests exceeded. Lotus Mountain Retreat is owned by a young family who purchased this property with the goal of turning it into a tranquil, restful, peaceful oasis, allowing guests to unwind in a serene mountain setting. We have a friendly guest-sniffing dog, and a slightly aloof cat. All are free to wander about the premises. Please consider this if you have allergies or sensitivities to canines or felines. Generally pets are welcome, please let us know in advance.
We invite you to take a break from urban life and the hustles, bustles, and hassles of daily life and enter a world where quiet reflection is the norm. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we are here to facilitate your experience whether it’s setting up spa appointments, offering guided hikes, or making yoga class recommendations, or suggesting nearby excursions to Burlington, Stowe, Waterbury and other the surrounding towns.
We truly look forward to caring for you.
